Journaling:
I look at this picture, and I am amazed that it exists!
We were in the mall running errands, and I spied the Easter Bunny. I’d heard horror stories from friends about how hard it is to get a toddler to sit on a strange lap and smile for the camera, but this was all new to me. Serena was barely two months old last year, too small for me to trust with some-bunny making minimum wage wearing a costume. In addition, I’m Jewish so my life has never included posing with themed-holiday-characters.
There was no line, so I thought, why not try it and see what happens?
I took Serena out of her stroller and she walked up to the Easter Bunny on her own and touched him. I, along with other mothers of bawling babies nearby were shocked. She wasn’t scared!? I looked at the photographer and asked, “Are you ready? Because you’re going to have just one shot at this before she freaks!” She nodded, I plopped Serena on the bunny’s lap and this picture was quickly snapped. Within seconds after, Serena was off his lap and angry as heck at me. The real tantrum started when they tried to take that yellow sparkly egg away from her.
It’s not a great smile, but hey, it isn’t tears either!
